Why Choose Dieselex Gold? Advanced Chemistry for Maximum Performance
Detergency: Clean Injectors for Power & Efficiency
Dirty injectors reduce horsepower and fuel economy. Dieselex Gold’s powerful detergents remove carbon deposits and sticky internal diesel injector deposits (IDID), common in modern high-pressure common rail (HPCR) engines. Clean injectors mean restored power, better fuel economy, and easier starts.
Proven performance: Passes Peugeot DW-10 and XUD-9 injector tests.
Cetane Improver: Faster Starts, Lower Emissions
Higher cetane means better ignition quality. Dieselex Gold boosts cetane to 46–49, compared to 42–45 in typical #2 diesel. The result? Quicker starts, less knocking, reduced smoke, and lower emissions like NOx and particulates.
Corrosion Inhibitors: Protect Your Fuel System
Moisture causes rust and corrosion, leading to clogged filters and injector damage. Dieselex Gold’s corrosion inhibitors protect metal surfaces and extend fuel system life.
Certified: Passes NACE corrosion test (ASTM 665A).
Lubricity Enhancers: Longer Pump & Injector Life
Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel lacks natural lubricity. Dieselex Gold exceeds ASTM D975 standards, preventing injector seizure and reducing wear for extended component life.
Oxidation Inhibitors: Longer Storage, Cleaner Fuel
Stored fuel can oxidize, forming gums and sludge. Dieselex Gold slows oxidation, keeping fuel clean and filters clear for longer storage life.
Stabilizing Agents: Maintain Fuel Integrity
Modern engines recirculate heated fuel, accelerating oxidation. Dieselex Gold stabilizers work with oxidation inhibitors to prevent gum and deposits, ensuring smooth operation.
Demulsifiers: Remove Free Water
Moisture infiltrates tanks and fuels microbial growth. Dieselex Gold separates free water for easy removal, protecting your system from corrosion and sludge.
Moisture Control Chemistry: Dry Out Your Tanks
Dieselex Gold safely carries dissolved moisture through combustion, reducing microbial growth and corrosion. Trusted by aviation and fleet industries for proven moisture control.

Information About Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF)
Why Use SCR and DEF?
To meet the nitrogen oxide (NOx) emission limits set by the EPA 2010 standards, most engine manufacturers use Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems. These systems require Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF). Similar emission standards will apply to off-road engines starting in 2014.
What is DEF?
- DEF is a clear, non-toxic, non-flammable, and non-hazardous solution made of 32.5% urea and 67.5% de-ionized water.
- It requires no special handling and may have a mild ammonia-like odor.
- DEF meets ISO 22241 standards for purity and quality.
- Safe to handle and weighs approximately 9.2 lbs per gallon.
How Does It Work?
- The process begins with an engine running on Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel, producing cleaner exhaust due to more efficient combustion.
- Under computer control, DEF is precisely sprayed into the exhaust stream before it enters the SCR catalyst.
- Inside the catalyst, DEF reacts with exhaust gases, converting harmful NOx into nitrogen (N₂) and water (H₂O).
- Sensors monitor exhaust gases after treatment, and the system adjusts DEF flow to maintain compliance.
Can DEF Be Mixed with Diesel Fuel?
Unlikely. DEF and diesel tanks are designed differently:
- DEF tanks have smaller openings and distinct color caps to prevent contamination.
Performance in Cold Weather
- DEF is formulated for cold climates. Systems include heated tanks and lines.
- DEF gels at 25°F and freezes at 12°F, expanding about 7% when frozen. Tanks accommodate this expansion.
- Heating elements prevent freezing, and lines are flushed when the engine shuts down.
- Frozen DEF thaws evenly, allowing immediate use. EPA permits up to 70 minutes for thawing without impacting operations.
DEF Consumption
- Typically, DEF is used at 2–4% of fuel consumption.
- Expect refills about every 2.5 tanks of fuel or roughly 7,000 miles.
Refill Notifications
- Trucks feature DEF level gauges and warning systems.
- At 4% consumption, a 20-gallon DEF tank provides about 350 miles after the warning light appears.
Note: Contaminated DEF or fuel will trigger NOx sensors and warnings similar to an empty DEF tank.
Storage Guidelines
- Store DEF between 12°F and 86°F for up to 12 months.
- At 95°F, shelf life reduces to 6 months.
